Summer is coming. Glowing skin is the goal. Soft, supple, smooth for all those tank top, bathing suit, short shorts and summer dress moments out under the sun.
This past winter left our skin drier than normal. We love a good dry brushing, but that was not enough. Neither was hydrating ourselves or a good oil massaging.
Enter in… the scrub. Raise your hand with us if you love a good scrub. The way it creates stimulation under your skin for a tingling feeling that gets your heart beating and exfoliates dead skin. It sends blood to the skins surface too and massages your fascia. So good. Are you with us?
And so easy to do in the shower. Just a quick wet massage with your fave scrub and skin is left softer, clearer and ready to glow. But what scrub do we choose?
We have become hyper aware of ingredients we are putting on our skin. Reading all the labels. Looking up products at EWG making sure it is a safe and clean. We are also sensitive to scent. And we love a good, simple DIY.
And so the Curated California Coffee Scrub was born. We hope you will try it for yourself. With summer coming, “suns out, buns out” make us want a smooth cellulite free bootie as well as beautiful glowing skin. This scrub is a daily ritual to help prep!
The smell is amazing. The cooling and tingling from the peppermint feels so good. The coffee energizes your skin. The scrub leaves skin nourished and exfoliated. The ingredients are simple and readily available. Probably stuff you already have in your kitchen and bathroom!
CURATED CALIFORNIA COFFEE SCRUB
1/3 cup hot coffee grounds (we love using percolator grade grounds)
*when you grind your coffee beans, grind to percolator grade, we also actually make ourselves a pot of coffee and use the leftover grounds, they are softened and perfect for this scrub.
1 tablespoon hot coffee
1 tablespoon organic coconut oil
3-5 drops of peppermint essential oil
*optional: a couple drops of organic vanilla extract
4 ounce mason jar and lid
The How To:
Make yourself a pot of coffee. We use a Chemex Drip Coffee Maker or percolator. Save those grounds!
In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup coffee grounds still hot from making coffee. Add a tablespoon of hot coffee. Then a tablespoon of coconut oil. Next 3-5 drops peppermint oil. Then a few drops of vanilla. Mix it all together until the coconut oil melts in to the grounds. Fill the 4 ounce mason jar and put the lid on.
Next time you shower, take a scoop to massage in to your skin to help smooth cellulite. Or after shaving your legs massage to exfoliate and leave smooth soft skin. It works well on elbows and shoulders too.
The grounds exfoliate the skin.
The coffee and peppermint oil stimulates the skin.
The coconut oil leaves skin moisturized and soft.
